
Founded in 1913 by King Rama VI, Siam Cement Group or SCG commenced operation as the first cement manufacturer in Thailand. SCG is one of Thailand’s most reputable industrial conglomerates. Since its founding, SCG has grown continually and diversified into four core businesses, namely SCG Cement-Building Materials, SCG Packaging and SCG Chemicals and SCG Investments.
Listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 1975, SCG has a market capitalization of approximately US$17.0 billion (as of August 2016), and a free float of 70%. The major shareholder of the company is the Crown Property Bureau (assets management of the Royal Thai monarchy), with an approximate 30% stake. The first half of 2016, SCG had consolidated sales of US$6.2 billion. At the end of June 2016, SCG had a total workforce of +54,000 employees, of which a third are located across the ASEAN region.

SCG Chemicals Co., Ltd. (SCG Chem) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG). Starting with Polyethylene plant in 1989, SCG Chem has expended and become a key industry leader in the Asia-Pacific region with integrated world-scale upstream, intermediate, and downstream operations in Map Ta Phut, Rayong Province.
SCG Chem offers a full range of petrochemical products including olefins, intermediates such as Styrene monomer, PTA, and MMA, and downstream petrochemicals such as Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polyvinyl Chloride, and Polystyrene resins. Each of SCG Chem’s product lines is operated as a separate business unit, several of which are managed through joint ventures with Thai and multi-national partners, including global petrochemical companies, namely Dow Chemical Company of the United States (for LLDPE plant), Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. of Japan and Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. of Japan.
